The Importance of Social Media Branding

Writer: Libre BlogLibre Blog

Take it from us. Having a cohesive, recognizable brand is one of the most important steps in creating an online presence for your company. It's one of the easiest ways to passively advertise your business without a massive marketing budget. But even a small misstep or oversight can become a PR nightmare and drive new and established firms into the ground. So doing proper research, working with local artists, and coordinating social media channels is crucial in making sure that you clearly communicate your business identity to your audience.

Traditionally, the most crucial rule for creating any visual design was to not design all the way to the edges of a page. This was important for two reasons. First, ink is expensive. Second, most personal printers have a sizable margin between the ink and the edge of the page. Thankfully, digital marketing means there are no margins! But this then brings its own set of problems. First and foremost, over doing it.

We've all seen it. The noisy, cluttered designs of fast fashion. The 3D, clip art of young start-ups. Technology let us do anything we wanted, but we never asked the important question. (If you want to see some truly egregious designs, just look up ultimate Frisbee jerseys.) But it's also important not to fall into fads or try to ripoff popular design elements just because you want something that will speak to your customers in the short term. Just look at Supreme, Target, and Nike. Recognizable, unique logos that you associate with certain people and celebrities.

Well what can you do? Start by envisioning your future. Choosing timeless fonts, character sizes, and colors will make a world of difference. Then understand the importance of a color palette. Having a background that sharply contrasts against your text color is visually appealing and lets customers view your content without straining to see what's written. Blue and yellow work wonderfully together. So do purple and white! But brown and green or red and blue? Maybe not the best options.

Next, it's important to know how much information belongs in the post image and how much should be committed to plain text. You can cheat with social media platforms by catching your audience's attention with a bright, flashy logo then giving them your pitch by providing detailed, informative copy in the description section of your post. This also allows you to tweak the fine details of a promotion or offer without losing the time and money committed to your brand design. Better yet, you can reuse valuable assets across your social media platforms all while bringing on new customers!

Through care and a critical eye, designs for your social marketing can go from a seemingly simple advertising tool to an effective means of attracting new clients. After that? Well, just decide which ads go where. Once an effective, timeless design has been created, your company will see a surge in engagement from customers.
